MIKE BERRY MSc, ARCS, Dip DM, F IDM, Strategic Digital Marketing Consultant and Trainer
Mike studied Mathematics and Industrial Sociology at Imperial College, London University, where he gained a BSc. (majoring in Statistics) and an MSc. (with Distinction) including an internship at Shell UK.
He started his career in sales and marketing at Procter & Gamble, leaving to join DM agency EHS Brann (now EHS 4D) where his main account was Ford. At Carlson Marketing, Mike managed accounts including Nestlé, Mars, BT and Citroën. He joined Wunderman (the Direct / Digital Marketing arm of Y&R) and was promoted to the Board as Group Account Director responsible for Ford, Legal & General, AIB and Monsanto.
In the ’90s, Mike was Director of Direct Marketing and Sales Promotion at Kevin Morley Marketing, where his accounts included Land Rover, MG, Mini, RBS and Prudential. In 1996 Mike joined Bozell Worldwide (now DraftFCB) as Senior Vice President for European Integration. He was responsible for sourcing mergers and acquisitions target agencies in France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy and UK. He also headed up Integrated Marketing Operations on Chrysler and Jeep brands across Europe. He launched Bozell Marketing Services where he was MD and his main client was Commercial Union (Aviva).
In 2002 Mike got together with 2 partners to launch SPIRIT, a Central London-based integrated/ digital marketing agency with clients including: Honda, Marriott, Nestlé, Savoy Group (The Berkeley/ Claridge’s/ The Connaught), Ernst & Young, Bloomberg, Wetherspoon, Sotheby’s, Procter & Gamble and Hyundai/ Kia.
In 2008 Mike moved to Jack Morton Worldwide, the Interpublic experiential network, as Head Of Digital for Europe, Middle East and Africa. His clients included Nokia, Shell, HP, Toyota and COI (DCSF and The Army).
He left in July 2009 to pursue a consultancy and training career, drawing on his extensive experience of online and offline marketing and working with a range of clients in B2B, B2C, Public and Charity sectors.
Mike is the author of ‘The New Integrated Direct Marketing’, published by Gower and is a Fellow of The Institute of Direct Marketing for whom he trains regularly (IDM Diploma in Digital Marketing, complete digital marketing ) and a member of the Editorial board of the IDM International Journal. He is Course Director on the Digital Marketing Workshop for ISBA (Incorporated Society of British Advertisers) and is Lead Adjunct Professor on The Master of Digital Marketing degree offered by Hult International Business School and Econsultancy. He regularly teaches the CAM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) Diplomas and trains for the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB). Mike is both passionate and knowledgeable about digital marketing and his classical marketing training and integrated background makes him ideally qualified to speak at a range of business events and to train marketers of all levels in digital skills. Much of his time is spent on ‘in-company marketing consultancy’.
Mike is a Partner at Aprais, a global agency/client relationship management consultancy.
